When we embarked on our recycling journey some time ago we believed it would be a relatively easy journey! The obvious packaging is paper, however, paper is porous and so needs a plastic liner, although, in theory recyclable, in practice a nightmare. What about compostable? As long as you’re happy to wait 20 years for it to happen, and even then it doesn’t break down correctly. Recyclable plastic? In all honesty a really good option, just marketing wise a difficult sell, as plastic is the devil, unfairly in lots of examples. 18 months of trial and error got us to what we have below, a recyclable metal lid and a recyclable glass jar, however, that’s only the start! Size, labels, packaging, there’s more to it than just a jar.
